Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 October 2026
PrepMatrix respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use prepmatrix.in, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
1. Who we are
PrepMatrix (“we”, “us”) runs the website prepmatrix.in, an online platform for JEE, NEET and other entrance-exam preparation. For the purposes of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”), PrepMatrix is the data fiduciary for the personal data described here. You can contact us at support.prepmatrix@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your name, username, email address, mobile number, class and target exam (stream), and your password. Passwords are stored only in encrypted (hashed) form; we cannot see them.
- Payment details — for paid products: the amount, any promo code used, and the 12-digit UPI Transaction ID (UTR) you submit. Payments are made in your own UPI app; we never receive your UPI PIN, card number or bank login details.
- Messages — anything you send us by email, such as support or payment queries.
Information created when you use PrepMatrix
- Test and practice activity — the tests and practice tests you take, your answers, time spent on each question, scores, and subject- and topic-wise results.
- Technical information — like most websites, our hosting providers record basic request information such as IP address, browser type and the time of each request, to keep the service running and secure.
- Browser storage — to keep you logged in, the website saves a login token and your basic profile in your browser’s local storage. Logging out removes them. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use third-party tracking or advertising tools.
3. How we use your information
- to create and manage your account and let you log in;
- to run tests, calculate your scores and show your results and analysis;
- to build practice tests suited to your stream and the topics you choose;
- to verify your payments and approve enrollments;
- to reply to your questions and send you important information about your account or purchases;
- to improve our questions, tests and website (for example, finding questions most students get wrong);
- to prevent misuse, fraud and unauthorised sharing of our content, and to meet legal requirements.
We process your personal data on the basis of the consent you give when you create an account, and for legitimate uses permitted by law, such as providing the service you asked for and meeting legal obligations.
4. Students under 18
Many of our students are under 18. If you are under 18, please use PrepMatrix with the knowledge and consent of your parent or guardian; by creating an account you confirm that they have agreed. A parent or guardian can contact us at support.prepmatrix@gmail.com to review, correct or delete their child’s data. We do not track children’s behaviour for advertising and do not show targeted advertising.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only:
- With service providers who run the website for us — website hosting, database and file storage, and font delivery (Google Fonts). They process data only to provide their service to us.
- With your permission — for example, we show a student’s name, photo and percentile on our “Trusted by Toppers” section only with that student’s permission.
- When required by law — to comply with a legal obligation, court order or lawful request from a government authority, or to protect the rights and safety of PrepMatrix, our students and others.
6. How long we keep information
We keep your account and test data while your account is active, so you can see your past results. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except payment records, which we keep for as long as accounting and tax laws require. Anonymised statistics (which cannot identify you) may be kept to improve our tests.
7. How we protect information
The website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), passwords are stored hashed, and access to student data is limited to authorised PrepMatrix staff who need it for their work. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and will act promptly, including informing affected users where required, if a breach occurs.
8. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act and other applicable law, you can ask us to:
- give you a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data;
- delete your data and close your account;
- withdraw your consent (this may mean we can no longer provide the service to you);
- nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in case of death or incapacity.
To use any of these rights, email support.prepmatrix@gmail.com from your registered email address. We respond within 30 days.
9. Grievances
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, write to our grievance contact at support.prepmatrix@gmail.com with the subject “Privacy grievance”. We will acknowledge it within 3 working days and try to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
10. Links to other websites
Our pages may link to other websites, such as our social media pages or official exam websites. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new “last updated” date, and for important changes we will let you know on the website.
